Definitions

The rule of thirds is a guideline which applies to the process of composing photos or visual images.

Depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.

A digital single-lens reflex camera is a digital camera combining the optics and the mechanisms of a single lens camera with a digital sensor, as opposed to film.
